PROJECT OVERVIEW:
Chili Willi's is more than a restaurant. It's a business built on personality, history, community, and the people who have made it what it is.
Berger Media partnered with Chili Willi's to tell that story through an original 13-minute documentary and a comprehensive collection of photography, video, social media content, and public relations materials.
What began as a documentary project evolved into a full-scale multimedia storytelling campaign designed to capture the restaurant's history while creating a library of marketing assets for its future.
Over two and a half days of production, Berger Media captured interviews, restaurant operations, food preparation, customer experiences, and the personalities behind the business.
The finished project included a 13-minute documentary, 26 short-form videos, more than 100 edited photographs, drone footage, B-roll, social media assets, and a public relations strategy designed to help the restaurant share its story with a wider audience.
The goal wasn't simply to create a film.
It was to turn the story behind Chili Willi's into something the restaurant could continue using, sharing, and building upon.
THE CHALLENGE:
Every restaurant has a menu. Not every restaurant has a story that people know.
For Chili Willi's, the challenge was finding a way to capture the history, personality, and people behind the business while creating content that could serve a much larger purpose than a traditional promotional video.
The documentary needed to feel authentic, personal, and engaging rather than like an extended advertisement.
At the same time, the restaurant needed practical marketing materials that could be used across social media, its website, public relations outreach, and future promotional efforts.
The challenge was to build something that worked on multiple levels:
Preserve and share the story behind Chili Willi's
Introduce the restaurant and its personality to new audiences
Create engaging short-form content from the documentary
Develop an extensive library of evergreen marketing assets
Showcase the food, atmosphere, and people behind the business
Create opportunities for earned media and community engagement
Give the restaurant content it could use well beyond the initial launch
The project needed to balance documentary storytelling with the everyday marketing needs of a local restaurant.
THE APPROACH:
Berger Media approached Chili Willi's as both a documentary production and a long-term content development project.
Drawing on more than a decade of experience in television news and storytelling, the focus was on finding the people, moments, and details that made Chili Willi's worth talking about.
Rather than producing a traditional restaurant commercial, the documentary was built around authentic interviews, natural moments, and the history behind the business.
Production was intentionally designed to serve multiple purposes.
Interviews and documentary footage would form the foundation of the film, while additional photography, video, food coverage, and behind-the-scenes material would create a separate collection of marketing assets.
Coverage included:
Documentary-style interviews
Restaurant and hospitality photography
Food and menu photography
Kitchen and behind-the-scenes coverage
Customer and restaurant atmosphere
Aerial drone photography and video
Cinematic B-roll
Short-form social media videos
Documentary promotional clips
Evergreen restaurant marketing content
Public relations and media outreach planning
Following production, the project expanded beyond the edit.
Berger Media developed a strategy for distributing the documentary, repurposing its strongest moments, and using the restaurant's story to generate additional attention through social media, local media, and community engagement.
One production became an entire library of content, built around one central story.

THE WORK
THE DOCUMENTARY
At the center of the project was an original 13-minute documentary exploring the story behind Chili Willi's.
Built around interviews, natural sound, archival storytelling where appropriate, and cinematic restaurant footage, the film was designed to give viewers a deeper understanding of the business and the people behind it.
Rather than simply highlighting the menu or restaurant experience, the documentary focused on the history, personality, and human connections that make Chili Willi's unique.
The result was a standalone film that could serve as the centerpiece of the restaurant's storytelling and promotional efforts.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE BUSINESS
Restaurants are built by people, not just menus.
Through interviews and documentary-style coverage, Berger Media focused on the personalities, experiences, and relationships that define Chili Willi's.
The goal was to capture genuine moments rather than staged promotional content.
These interviews became the emotional foundation of the documentary while also providing individual stories and moments that could be shared through social media.
THE FOOD
Food is a major part of any restaurant's identity, but great food content is about more than the finished plate.
Berger Media captured the preparation, details, movement, and presentation of the food at Chili Willi's, creating photography and video that could be used across the restaurant's marketing channels.
From close-up food photography to behind-the-scenes kitchen footage, the content was designed to make the restaurant experience feel immediate and inviting.
These assets also provided a collection of evergreen material that could be used independently of the documentary.
THE PHOTOGRAPHY
More than 100 edited photographs were delivered as part of the project.
The collection included food, restaurant interiors, atmosphere, staff, and behind-the-scenes moments.
Rather than treating photography as a secondary deliverable, it was built into the production process to give Chili Willi's a versatile library of professional imagery.
The photographs could support social media posts, website updates, promotional campaigns, press outreach, and future marketing needs.
THE SOCIAL CONTENT
A documentary can tell a complete story, but social media requires smaller moments that can stand on their own.
Berger Media created 26 short-form videos designed to extend the life of the project across digital platforms.
Eight reels were developed directly from the documentary, highlighting compelling interviews, stories, and moments that could encourage audiences to watch the full film.
An additional 18 evergreen reels focused on the restaurant itself, providing content that could be used for ongoing promotion rather than being tied exclusively to the documentary launch.
This approach gave Chili Willi's both a promotional campaign for the film and a separate collection of content to support its everyday social media presence.
THE VISUAL LIBRARY
Beyond the finished documentary and social videos, Berger Media organized and delivered additional B-roll and drone footage.
These assets gave Chili Willi's access to footage that could be repurposed for future promotions, advertisements, website content, and other marketing needs.
The goal was to make the production valuable beyond the initial deliverables.
Instead of creating content for a single moment, the project established a foundation for future storytelling.
THE PUBLIC RELATIONS STRATEGY
The project didn't end when the documentary was exported.
Berger Media also developed a public relations and promotional strategy to help Chili Willi's turn the film into a broader opportunity for visibility.
This included two press releases exploring different angles of the restaurant's story, a social media rollout plan, and a strategy for extending the campaign beyond the documentary itself.
The materials included potential media and influencer outreach, community engagement opportunities, and ideas for a documentary watch party.
By combining documentary production with public relations planning, the project was designed to give Chili Willi's more ways to reach audiences than simply publishing a video online.
THE RESULT:
Over three and a half days of production, Berger Media created a complete multimedia storytelling package for Chili Willi's.
The finished project included an original 13-minute documentary, 26 short-form social media videos, more than 100 edited photographs, aerial footage, organized B-roll, two press releases, and a comprehensive promotional strategy.
Rather than delivering a single video and calling the project complete, Berger Media created a collection of interconnected assets designed to work together.
The documentary served as the centerpiece of the campaign.
Short-form videos created opportunities to introduce individual moments and stories to social media audiences.
Photography and evergreen reels provided practical marketing content for the restaurant's ongoing needs.
Public relations materials created a framework for sharing the story with local media, community partners, and potential new customers.
The result was a ready-to-use library of content and a promotional plan designed to support Chili Willi's long after production wrapped.
One restaurant. One documentary. An entire storytelling campaign.
THE STORY BEHIND THE STORY:
There's a difference between making a restaurant look good and giving people a reason to care about it.
Food photography can make someone hungry.
A social media reel can make someone stop scrolling.
But a story can make someone feel connected to a place before they've ever walked through the door.
That's what made the Chili Willi's project different.
The documentary wasn't just about what the restaurant serves. It was about the people, history, personality, and experiences that make the business what it is.
And instead of letting that story live in one 13-minute film, Berger Media built an entire collection of content around it.
The same interviews that gave the documentary its heart became opportunities for short-form storytelling. The same production that captured the restaurant's history also produced photography, food videos, and marketing materials for its future.
The project brought together documentary filmmaking, commercial content production, social media strategy, and public relations under one creative vision.
Because the best restaurant marketing doesn't always start with the food.
Sometimes, it starts with the story that makes people want to pull up a chair.
